Keto Orange Scented Broccoli

Orange Scented Broccoli

Eating lots of broccoli, from the brassica family of cruciferous veggies, has been shown to reduce the risk of a cancer due to the high sulforaphane content. This recipe for Orange Scented Broccoli adds Asian flavors to create a heathly, but equally tasty side dish. You can also serve it chilled as a salad.

Step 1

Slice the garlic into paper thin slice and set aside.

Step 2

Cut florets in two lengthwise and lay flat side down, then cut those pieces in half lengthwise, four pieces for each floret. Place the florets with a few drops of water into a microwave-safe bowl, cover with a microwave-safe saucer and microwave on high for 1 minute. Remove from the microwave oven and transfer the broccoli florets to a plate to cool.

Step 3

Toast sesame seeds for about 5 minutes in a skillet over low heat until golden brown, then place in a small bowl and set aside.

Step 4

Place olive oil and garlic in skillet over low heat. Toast garlic, stirring frequently, for about 5 minutes until the garlic is light golden brown. Add pepper flakes and stir. Transfer to small bowl and allow to cool for 5 minutes, then add the sugar-substitute, sesame oil, herbs, salt and orange zest. Stir to combine. Add the florets to bowl, toss to fully coat the florets.

Step 5

Transfer to a warm serving platter, and sprinkle with the toasted sesame seeds.
